Zumba starts tonight!

Yep, it's finally here, our first Zumba class. Interest has been fantastic but we can always squeeze a few more in! Make a note, it's a 6pm start.

Swimming Lessons - we have spaces

We currently have a few spaces in our swimming lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We take children from about age 4, and any ability level. We don't often have spaces so if you're looking for some, look no further and contact us quick!

We also have spaces in our parent and child group at 5.30pm on Wednesdays.

Lessons start at only £5.30 per session, small groups guaranteed.

Zumba at the Academy!!

We are pleased to announce another new class starting at the Colchester Academy Sports Centre next month...ZUMBA!

For those who haven't heard of it, I suggest you google it to find out. For those who have, you will know that the Zumba craze has been spreading like wildfire. Basically, it is a combination of Latin music and rhythms, and easy to follow moves to create an all over fitness programme.

Now for the science bit...

Fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. It's an hour of "calorie-burning, body energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!" (Yes, that bit was taken off the website!).

The first class will be on Thursday 4th November, from 6.00 - 7.00pm. C'mon, give it a try, 'coz you're worth it!

Book in advance through http://www.lwfitness4all.com/, or telephone the centre on 01206 500917 for more information.

Gym & Swim returns

We are happy to announce the return of "Gym & Swim", on Monday evenings from 7.00 - 9.00pm.

This is a great double session of activity allowing users to have a work out in our fitness suite, followed by a cool down session in our cool pool. In the pool you can either just have a relaxing dip, work yourself harder with lengths, or rehabilitate those joints and limbs.

Alternatively, you could miss the fitness suite workout and just take a plunge in the pool.

Regular gym users will only have to pay for their regular workout fee ie £28 for a monthly pass or £3.80 for a single session. In effect, they get the swim part free.

Swim only is also just £3.80, pay as you go.

The pool will be staffed by a suitably qualified person.

No booking required, just turn up, report to reception and work out!

Welcome - new name, same place!

Welcome to the first post on the new Colchester Academy Sports Centre blog. After months of waiting, we are now officially Colchester Academy Sports Centre. It will take a bit of getting used to after 10 years as the Sir Charles Lucas Sports Centre so we apologise in advance if we use the wrong name!

There are a few aesthetic changes to the site but nothing much will change for our customers - they will all keep their regular slots and hopefully the change will be as smooth as possible.

This will hopefully be an interesting and varied blog where all our users have the opportunity to add articles to the site.
